Jamaat-e-Islami has alleged that a “premeditated plot” is
afoot to implicate the Opposition Party in the mob killing of a youth over “blasphemy”
in Satkhira
Jamaat’s involvement in the killing is being cited without any
neutral probe into the incident, said the party’s Secretary General Mia Golam Porwar
in a statement on Thursday.
The Jamaat leader said that the party does not support the “mob killing” of someone without due legal course. If anyone commits an offence, the person must be tried under the law by the concerned court, he added.
He called on the concerned law enforcers to conduct a fair,
neutral and acceptable investigation into the killing, bring the culprits to
book and ensure justice for the victim’s family.
Porwar also requested journalists and others concerned to
act responsibly and avoid pointing fingers at any individual or group without
proper verification.
Creating public confusions out of “political motives” was unwarranted, and could divert attention from the real culprits, he claimed.
