Bangladesh Jamaat-e-Islami Ameer Shafiqur Rahman has called for an end to what he described as political considerations in the recruitment of primary school teachers, urging the authorities to give priority to merit and qualifications.
In
a post on his verified Facebook page, Shafiqur Rahman said entry into
government jobs must not depend on political allegiance and that the merit and
qualifications of jobseekers should be the sole considerations in recruitment.
He
also called for an end to what he described as practices from the previous
regime carried out in the name of verification.
“Abandon
these misdeeds of the fascist era in the name of verification,” he said, adding
that the public would not tolerate any similar “conspiracy”.
Shafiqur
Rahman said protests and resistance would continue with public participation
and called on young people, including meritorious youths, to raise their voices
to protect their rights.
He
warned that making concessions could turn Bangladesh into what he described as
a “haven for a meritless fascism” and said there was no scope for compromise on
the issue.
