BNP Joint Secretary General Syed Emran Saleh Prince has called upon the opposition party to cancel their upcoming long march, questioning the move amid the ongoing fuel crisis.
Prince made the call while speaking at a rally held
by BNP’s Mymensingh district (north) unit marking the 48th founding
anniversary of the party.
Prince said, “The question is how much
people-friendly the decision to bring out thousands of vehicles on the streets
to carry out the long march really is. If the fuel used in these vehicles could
be used for public transport and emergency services, people would be directly
benefitted.”
“Politics is for the welfare of the people, not for increasing
their suffering,” Prince added.
Warning the opposition party, Prince further said, “If
public nuisance is increased through the deterioration of the ongoing fuel
crisis due to the long march, people will surely ask–does the opposition want
to solve the crisis or do they want to fish in troubled waters.”
