BNP Chairperson’s Advisor and valiant freedom fighter Abdus Salam has said that the votes of Dhaka’s residents can never be bought, adding that this would once again be proven in the upcoming 13th National Parliamentary Election on 12 February.

He made the remarks while addressing an election rally in Dhaka-7 constituency on Friday (6 February) in support of BNP candidate Hamidur Rahman.

Abdus Salam said the people of Dhaka had previously delivered their verdict against injustice and conspiracy, and would do so again by voting in favour of democracy, freedom and development.

He said the BNP had always ensured equal rights for all citizens, regardless of gender.

He also claimed that a certain group was attempting to mislead the election process, but asserted that the people of Dhaka would not fall into such a trap.

Addressing voters, the BNP leader said civic responsibility would not end with casting ballots on 12 February.

He urged voters to remain at polling centres throughout the day to prevent any irregularities and ensure that no opportunity for vote rigging was allowed.

He further said that if Hamidur Rahman, a son of Old Dhaka, was elected, he would play an effective role in the development of the area under the leadership of Tarique Rahman.

Abdus Salam also stressed the need to protect the country’s independence, democracy and the rights of the people.
