Chief Coordinator of the BNP’s Election Steering Committee for Dhaka-17 constituency Abdus Salam on Tuesday said BNP Chairman Tarique Rahman will provide free WiFi to students if the party got elected in the upcoming 13th National Parliament Election slated for 12 February.
“In his election pledge, BNP Chairman Tarique Rahman
has promised to bring all kinds of facilities including free WiFi across the
country to the fingertips of students,” he said.
Abdus Salam, also a valiant freedom fighter revealed
this at the Digital Memorial Inauguration ceremony at Government Titumir
College in the city.
A discussion was held between teachers, Chhatra Dal
leaders, and general students of Titumir College, and leaders of the BNP's
election steering committee for the Dhaka-17 constituency.
Salam said, “In the current digital era, the old
analog system will not work. Through WiFi, you can stay connected with the
entire world.”
In this connetion, he said students of our country
can not avail all facilities related to education since they have been suffering
from financial crisis. But, they need to stay connected with the world.
“Keeping this in mind, Tarique has undertaken
various service-oriented initiatives for students,” he added.
Mentioning that people from all walks of life can
enjoy this WiFi facility, he said, “Providing this WiFi service for students is
not only for the Chhatra Dal. Students of all religions and backgrounds will be
able to use it. Through this, students will have information at their
fingertips”.
“You can get admission to universities around the
world. It will also become easier to get jobs both at home and abroad,” he
added.
Salam revealed that in this election, 30% of voters
are students and young people.
“You will foster a trend of clean politics among
students. Never engage in unfair politics and resist those who practice
criminal politics. The Chhatra league has been exhausted by engaging in unfair
politics. Neither ordinary students nor the general public have accepted their
politics,” he added.
The BNP leader said that the party believes in the
coexistence of all religions and there is no differing opinion on co-education
for men and women either.
With Titumir College unit Chhatra Dal Convener Imam
Hossain in the chair, Joint Coordinator of Dhaka-17 election activities Farhad
Halim Donor, agriculturist Shamim Rahman Shamim, college Principal Prof
Sadruddin Ahmed, Prof Alea Akhtar, Prof Atiqur Rahman and Prof Maniruzzaman
