Blaming Tarique for any trouble without proof resembles AL’s fascist culture: Mahdi Amin

BNP election steering committee spokesperson Mahdi Amin has rejected NCP Chief Coordinator Nasiruddin Patwary’s allegations that BNP top leaders were behind Tuesday’s “egg attack” on him.

NCP has not presented any proof or logical grounds for its allegations against BNP Chairman Tarique Rahman and senior leader Mirza Abbas, Mahdi said, terming the move a reflection of the “fascist culture” of Awami League regime.

Awami League chief and ousted prime minister Sheikh Hasina as well as her associates also used to directly blame Tarique Rahman for any untoward incident without giving any proof, Mahdi stated in a facebook post on Tuesday.

The Awami League regime ultimately lost connection with the general people and became the target of public wrath, Mahdi said hinting at similar predicament for those who would adopt the regime’s policies.

Earlier, on Tuesday, a group of individuals blocked Nasiruddin Patwary from entering the Habibullah Bahar College, in Shantinagar, where the NCP leader claimed he was invited to join a winter cake festival.

With support from his partymen, Nasiruddin eventually managed to go past the resistance, but later eggs were thrown at him. Nasiruddin, and NCP Convener Nahid Islam later alleged that Mirza Abbas, the BNP candidate to rival Nasiruddin in Dhaka-8 election race, ordered Chhatra Dal to throw the eggs, and Tarique Rahman gave consent in this regard.

Mahdi Amin said that the college authority has confirmed Nasiruddin was not invited to any event on the campus on Tuesday. “Even students” tried to prevent the uninvited guest from entering the college, Mahdi said.

Yet it remains a mystery, that despite being not invited, Nasiruddin went there with a big number of party activists. Then, adding to the mystery, all of a sudden, eggs were thrown at him by unidentified individuals, and some people engaged in a fight with his supporters, Mahdi said.

Mahdi urged all to avoid making the 12 February elections a stage for “irrational dramas.”

Nasiruddin has already drawn attention through his “haughtiness and sensational statements.” He attempts to go viral at different times by verbally insulting BNP, getting aggressive towards voters and spreading falsehood against rival election candidates.

Mirza Abbas has consistently faced vulgar attitude from Nasiruddin but demonstrated profound tolerance and a positive attitude, Mahdi claimed in the facebook post.
