Bangladesh Jamaat-e-Islami Ameer Shafiqur Rahman has announced plans to establish a powdered milk factory in Sirajganj, saying the initiative would encourage the development of a large number of dairy farms in the district and create employment opportunities for many unemployed youths, both men and women.

He made the announcement on Saturday while addressing a 10-party alliance election rally organised by the Sirajganj district unit of Jamaat-e-Islami as the chief guest.

Shafiqur said the party does not want a divided country but a united Bangladesh.

“Those who seek to divide the country are not friends of the nation. They want to divide Bangladesh to serve the interests of others, and we will not allow that to happen,” he said.

He added that if Allah grants Jamaat the opportunity to form a government, all closed industries in Sirajganj, including its once-prosperous handloom sector, would be revived.

He also pledged to further improve the quality of Sirajganj Medical College and comprehensively reform the district’s education system.

Calling on voters to support reform, Shafiqur urged people to cast a “Yes” vote in the referendum, saying it would signify fundamental reforms, trials for all mass killings including the Hadi killings, the prevention of any return to fascism, and zero tolerance for domination, extortion, and corruption.

He also said that women are often most oppressed by those who speak loudly about morality.

“Do not force us to speak out. Otherwise, everything will be exposed,” he warned, adding that Jamaat is committed to ensuring 100% security for women at home, on the streets, and in workplaces, while upholding their dignity.

The rally was attended by leaders and activists of Jamaat and allied parties from across the district.
