44 nominations, including GM Quader and Akhter, declared valid in Rangpur

Nominations of 44 candidates, including Jatiya Party Chairman GM Quader, Jamaat-e-Islami Nayeb-e-Ameer ATM Azharul Islam, and National Citizen Party (NCP) Member Secretary Akhter Hossen, have been validated, while 12 nominations have been cancelled in Rangpur's six parliamentary constituencies ahead of the 13th national election. 

While the BNP and the Islami Andolan have fielded their candidates in all the constituencies, the Jamaat has candidates in five, as it has left one seat for the NCP.

GM Quader is contesting the election from Rangpur-3, Azharul Islam from Rangpur-2, and Akhter Hossen from Rangpur-4 constituencies.

On Saturday, Returning Officer Mohammad Enamul Ahsan said that a total of 61 nomination forms were distributed. 

Among them, 56 individuals submitted nominations. After scrutiny, 44 were validated and 12 were rejected, he said.

“Rejected candidates can appeal,” the RO said, expressing satisfaction with the cooperation of the candidates in adhering to the code of conduct.
