5th death anniv of Syeda Rahela Begum Friday

The fifth death anniversary of noted educationist Syeda Rahela Begum will be observed on Friday with religious and remembrance events.

Rahela Begum died on 17 April in 2021, while undergoing treatment at a private hospital.

She served in the teaching profession for 45 years and led Rangpur Munshipara Girls’ High School as headteacher for 37 years.

Colleagues and former students credit her with a major role in promoting female education in Rangpur.

Organisers will hold a doa mahfil at her grave in Pirganj after Friday prayers. Her family will also arrange a milad and doa mahfil at her residence in Rangpur to mark the occasion.
