Chief of Army Staff General Waker-Uz-Zaman on Sunday inaugurated three newly constructed buildings at the western campus of Bangladesh University of Professionals (BUP) in the capital’s Mirpur cantonment.
The new facilities are the Utility Building,
Faculty of Science and Technology (FST) Tower and Faculty of Arts and Social
Sciences (FASS) Tower, according to a press release issued by the
Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR).
The buildings were constructed to expand
BUP’s academic infrastructure and provide modern facilities for students and
teachers.
The main programme was held at BUP’s
Swadhinata Auditorium, where BUP Vice-Chancellor Major General Md Mahbub-ul
Alam highlighted the university’s progress in education and research, stressing
the expansion of international cooperation and research, development of skilled
human resources, and a modern, demand-driven education system.
During the programme, General Waker-Uz-Zaman
unveiled the cover of the book “Educating Minds; Awakening Conscience”,
authored by the BUP vice-chancellor, and awarded 14 BUP student teams that
secured first place in national and international competitions.
The army chief praised BUP’s progress, saying
a university’s success lies not only in academic excellence but also in
developing human resources with morality, values, integrity and responsibility.
Members of the BUP Senate, senior officers of
the Army, Navy and Air Force, former BUP vice-chancellors, senior university
officials, distinguished teachers and students also attended the programme.
