A Dhaka court on Monday ordered that Dilip Kumar Agarwala, managing director of Diamond World and former member of Awami League’s central sub-committee on industries and commerce, be shown as arrested in a case filed by the Anti-Corruption Commission (ACC).
Dhaka Metropolitan Senior Special Judge Mohammad Shahjahan Kabir passed the order following an application by the ACC, according to ACC lawyer Delwar Jahan Rumi.
Investigating officer and ACC Assistant Director Sajjad Hossain filed the petition on 25 October, seeking to show him arrested in the case. The court then fixed Monday for a hearing in presence of the accused.
As per the petition, Agarwala allegedly acquired and possessed assets worth Tk112.47 crore that were inconsistent with his known sources of income.
