Army Chief General Waker-Uz-Zaman landed home on Saturday after concluding an official visit to Australia and the United States.
During the first leg of the visit, the Army chief took part in “The Chief of Army Symposium and Land Forces International Defence Exposition 2026” held in Perth, Australia, according to an Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR) press release.
He also visited Deakin University in Melbourne, where he held discussions on expanding mutual cooperation and academic exchange programmes between the university and Bangladesh's Military Institute of Science and Technology (MIST) in the fields of education and research.
He subsequently attended the “Association of the US Army (AUSA) Annual Meeting and Exposition” at Washington, DC in the US.
The ISPR release stated that the Army chief paid courtesy calls on and exchanged views with key defense-related figures in Australia and the US. He also visited various military installations in both countries.
The Army chief hopes that the visit will further expand the existing professional ties, mutual cooperation and opportunities for training and exchange of experience between the Bangladesh Army and the armies of Australia and the US as well as the United States Army Pacific (USARPAC).
