‘This election crucial for fulfilling people’s expectations’

Election Commissioner Brig Gen (Retd) Abul Fazal Md Sanaullah said on Saturday that the upcoming election is not merely a procedural exercise but a crucial event to meet the expectations of the people and safeguard national and social stability.
He made the remarks while addressing a meeting of the district’s Law Enforcement Cell and Vigilance and Observation Team at the Bhola Deputy Commissioner’s office conference room.
Sanaullah said law enforcement agencies, along with vigilance and observation teams, would actively monitor the field ahead of the election and referendum. Centre-based monitoring will be further strengthened to ensure voters can exercise their rights without obstruction.
He urged law enforcement officials to remain on maximum alert to prevent the presence of drug addicts and juvenile gangs near polling centres. Calling upon all officials assigned to election duties to work in close coordination, he emphasised that no leniency would be shown in ensuring a smooth and acceptable election.
Sanaullah highlighted that the coordinated role of the administration, law enforcement agencies, and the Election Commission is essential for organising a free, fair, and impartial election.
