A 49-year-old Brazilian man was left heartbroken after discovering that the woman he believed could become his life partner was an AI-generated character. Identified as Edimar Martins, a bricklayer from Maranhao, Brazil, he sold his belongings and travelled more than 1,200 miles to meet the woman he had fallen for on social media. However, after arriving in Belo Horizonte, he discovered that his dream woman was not real.

How He Fell in Love With Her

Edimar Martins first came across a social media account featuring a woman named Jessica Oliveira, also known as Jessica Fazendeira, in 2020. The account reportedly had more than 300,000 followers and featured videos of a blonde woman living a peaceful life on a farm.

The woman appeared to enjoy a comfortable rural lifestyle and reportedly invited men to come and live with her. She also promised a home and financial support, suggesting they would no longer need to work to support themselves.

Martins was struggling with loneliness following his mother's death. The online connection appeared to offer him a chance to find companionship and begin a new life. After communicating with the woman for some time, he decided to travel to Belo Horizonte to meet her in person.
