“BYSIS Bengal Spark 2.0”, a science team led by the Bangladesh Young Scientists and Innovators Society (BYSIS), has achieved a historic milestone by winning the prestigious “Grand Award” for the best innovative project at the global round of the Borneo International Innovation and Creativity Competition (BIICC) 2026, held in Sabah, Malaysia.
Organised by the Malaysia Young Scientist
Organization (MYSO) and hosted at Universiti Malaysia Sabah, the competition
witnessed fierce contention among 2,700 innovative projects and ideas submitted
by youth from 20 countries.
Ultimately, the Bangladeshi innovation outperformed
all global competitors to secure the top spot.
Bangladesh was represented in this prestigious
global forum by the eight teams of BYSIS Bengal Spark 2.0 who were selected
through the national round. Out of these, team “Delta Cognition” stole the
spotlight.
Their project, “Agrobot”, not only won the Gold
Medal in the highly competitive Artificial Intelligence (AI) and Robotics
category but was also crowned the absolute best innovative project of the
entire competition.
The brilliant minds behind the winning team are Md
Akhteruzzaman Fahad, Imtiaz Hossain Akib, Taki Tahmid Sami, and Iftekhar Al
Amin.
The triumph was celebrated at a grand award ceremony
held on 21 June at the Sabah International Convention Centre, where the
Bangladesh team was honoured with the championship trophy, gold medals, cash
prizes, and certificates.
The high-profile event was graced by eminent
academics and global youth leaders, including Prof Dr Rosalam Sarbatly, deputy
vice-chancellor of research and innovation at University Malaysia Sabah; Dr
Razmi Bin Abdul Razak, president of MYSO; Associate Professor Dr Sian Sung; and
Mosaddek Hossain, president of BYSIS, who lauded the exceptional talent and
potential of the Bangladeshi youth on the global stage.
