Model Monika sued over ‘assaulting’ elderly pedestrian

A case was filed on Thursday against Russian-origin Bangladeshi model and social media influencer Monika Kabir for allegedly assaulting and verbally abusing an elderly pedestrian in Dhaka.

Dhaka Additional Chief Metropolitan Magistrate Zakir Hossain recorded the complainant’s statement and directed the officer-in-charge of Gulshan Police Station to investigate the matter.

Dhaka South district unit president of Chhatra Adhikar Parishad Sajjad Al Islam filed the case.

According to the complaint, the incident occurred around 4pm on Tuesday when an elderly man accidentally touched Monika Kabir with his bag while walking past the opposite side of Royal Blue in Gulshan-2. At the time, she was reportedly standing in the middle of the road making a TikTok video.

The case alleges that Monika Kabir then attacked the elderly man, threw away his bag and assaulted him. She also intentionally recorded the incident and later shared the video on social media, which further humiliated and demeaned the victim.
