Maiden US-Bangladesh cricket exchange promotes sports diplomacy

Ten Bangladeshis have returned home after participating in the first-ever US-Bangladesh cricket exchange programme, aimed at strengthening bilateral ties through sports diplomacy.

The US Embassy in Dhaka announced the programme, saying Bangladeshi cricket professionals had connected with their American counterparts to exchange knowledge and best practices in coaching, leadership and community engagement.

The initiative sought to advance cultural and commercial ties between the two countries through cricket, the embassy said in a social media post on Sunday (18 October).

The embassy also expressed eagerness to welcome an American delegation to Bangladesh for the next phase of the exchange programme.

The initiative highlights the growing role of sports diplomacy in fostering professional collaboration, cultural understanding and people-to-people connections between Bangladesh and the United States.
