Bangladesh and Oman have discussed expanding bilateral relations beyond labour migration, with a focus on trade, investment, skilled migration and institutionalising trade cooperation.
State Minister for Foreign Affairs Humaiun Kobir met Omani Under Secretary of Foreign Affairs Sheikh Khalifa bin Ali Al Harthy in Baghdad on Saturday (17 October) on the sidelines of the Council of Foreign Ministers of the Organisation of Islamic Cooperation (OIC).
During the meeting, the two sides explored opportunities to diversify economic cooperation and establish a more structured framework for trade, according to a foreign ministry press release.
They also emphasised the need to strengthen business-to-business and people-to-people contacts to make bilateral relations more substantive and mutually beneficial.
The discussions reflect a shared interest in broadening Bangladesh-Oman cooperation beyond its traditional focus on the labour market.
