Bangladesh and the United Arab Emirates (UAE) have discussed expanding employment opportunities for Bangladeshi workers, recruiting skilled labour and boosting bilateral trade and investment.

The issues were discussed at a meeting held between Prime Minister’s Adviser Mahdi Amin and UAE Ambassador Abdulla Ali AlHamoudi at the Prime Minister’s Office in the capital’s Tejgaon on Tuesday (13 October).

They also discussed strengthening the longstanding ties between the two countries, Muslim solidarity and mutual cooperation.

The two sides stressed creating employment opportunities for Bangladeshis in the UAE, particularly in taxi and truck driving, as well as facilitating the recruitment of skilled workers.

They also discussed ways to strengthen people-to-people contacts between the two countries.

Other issues included expanding bilateral trade, increasing UAE investment in Bangladesh and enhancing cooperation in the energy sector.
