Russian citizens living in Bangladesh voted in the 9th elections to the State Duma of the Federal Assembly organised by the Embassy of Russia in Bangladesh on Sunday.
Duma is one of the chambers of the Russian
Parliament. Parliamentary elections in Russia are held every five years and
last for one to three days.
The opening of the polling station in Dhaka took
place in a solemn atmosphere. The Russian national anthem was played, while
Ambassador Alexander Khozin thanked the compatriots who came to vote for their
active civic position.

A photo wall with the Russian map was created for the
guests of the Embassy so that after voting, everyone could mark their hometown
and make a memorable picture.
Speaking to the Daily Sun, an Embassy official said,
“We have created a special photo zone so that those who will cast their votes
can attach a picture of the city from where they have come.”
Vyacheslav Sentyurin, minister-counsellor at the
embassy, said, “Today, the Russian Embassy is hosting the state Duma elections.
The elections will continue from 8am to 8pm. So far, everything is going
according to plan. We welcome everyone to cast their ballots.”
Throughout the day, dozens of Russian citizens
visited the polling station. Some of them came with their children, giving them
an example of a responsible attitude towards their country’s future.
From 15 to 17 September, early voting for the State
Duma took place at the Rooppur Nuclear Power Plant construction site. Project
employees were able to vote without leaving their work location. Over 3,500
people exercised their right to vote over three days.
More than 300 polling stations have been established
in Russian diplomatic missions in 152 countries all over the world so that
every Russian citizen could have an opportunity to cast their vote.
