Danish Ambassador to Bangladesh Christian Brix Møller met State Minister for Health and Family Welfare Dr MA Muhit to discuss shared health priorities and opportunities to strengthen cooperation between the two countries.
The meeting also focused on Bangladesh’s efforts to upgrade its health services, with the state minister outlining plans to develop efficient e-health systems and expressing interest in drawing on Denmark’s experience in the sector.
The Embassy of Denmark in Bangladesh shared the information in a Facebook post on Wednesday.
The ambassador highlighted three areas where Denmark could support Bangladesh through partnerships — diabetes care and management, rehabilitation services for survivors of torture, and strengthening national food-safety institutions, including efforts to combat antimicrobial resistance (AMR).
The discussion also highlighted the importance of access to safe water and resilience to climate change in protecting public health.
Denmark has a long history of supporting access to clean drinking water in Bangladesh, including in coastal communities affected by rising salinity, which particularly affects women’s health.
Denmark is also contributing to the €300 million expansion of the Saidabad Water Treatment Plant, which is expected to provide safe drinking water to between seven million and nine million people in Dhaka.
The two sides agreed to continue coordination and identify concrete areas for follow-up.
The meeting reaffirmed their shared commitment to building on the strong Denmark-Bangladesh partnership and turning cooperation into practical solutions for healthier, safer and more resilient communities.
