Bangladesh’s Foreign Minister Dr Khalilur Rahman will meet his Indian counterpart Dr S Jaishankar in New Delhi on Wednesday (8 April).

The meeting is scheduled to be held at Hyderabad House at 1:00pm local time.

In addition, Dr Rahman is set to hold separate meetings with India’s Commerce and Industry Minister Piyush Goyal and Petroleum and Natural Gas Minister Hardeep Singh Puri.

Prime Minister’s foreign affairs adviser Humayun Kabir will also attend the meetings.

The talks are expected to cover a range of bilateral issues, including trade and business cooperation, the reinstatement of transshipment facilities, energy security, renewal of the Ganges water-sharing agreement, ending border killings, and the resumption of all types of Indian visas for Bangladeshi citizens. Other anticipated topics include the extradition of those responsible for the killing of Sharif Osman Bin Hadi, the return of fugitive leaders of the Awami League, including former Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina, the exchange of visits by top officials, and India’s support for Bangladesh’s candidate in the election for the President of the 81st UN General Assembly.

Regional and Middle Eastern security concerns, particularly those arising from ongoing conflicts, may also be discussed.

Dr Khalilur Rahman arrived in India on Tuesday (7 April) on a three-day visit. This marks the first visit to Delhi by a Bangladeshi minister since the BNP government took office.
