The United Arab Emirates on Wednesday distributed Ramadan food assistance among 1,620 underprivileged families in Bangladesh, including hundreds affected by the recent Vashantek slum fire in Dhaka, as part of a humanitarian initiative during the holy month.

The aid was distributed under the Ramadan Iftar Programme jointly implemented by UAE Aid and the Zayed Foundation, according to a press release.

Among the beneficiaries were 500 families affected by the recent fire incident at the Vashantek slum in the capital’s Mirpur.

The humanitarian initiative aims to support vulnerable communities during Ramadan by ensuring access to essential food supplies for families observing the fast.

Rashed Mohammed Naser Almail Alzaabi, Director of the Foreign Aid Department at the UAE Embassy in Dhaka, visited the programme site and observed the distribution activities.
