The release of highly anticipated horror film “Andhar”, directed by Raihan Rafi, has been postponed. The film, which was initially scheduled for an October release, will now hit theatres on 26 March, Independence Day, instead of during the Eid holidays.
A
teaser previously announced the film’s October premiere. However, speculation
about a possible delay had been circulating due to pending post-production
work. The rumours were confirmed on Tuesday evening through a video message
announcing the new release date.
In
the video, actor Chanchal Chowdhury appealed to audiences to remain patient,
saying, “You have stood by us and still do; please stay with us a little
longer.”
Director
Raihan Rafi explained that although the film could have been released on 16
October, doing so might have compromised the quality of its visual effects
(VFX). He said he was unwilling to make any concessions regarding the film’s
production standards.
“I
could release the film in October, even on the 16th, but the VFX quality might
suffer. I do not want to compromise in any way. Therefore, instead of October
or December, I will release “Andhar” on 26 March,” Rafi said.
The
film features a star-studded cast, including Chanchal Chowdhury, Afsana Mimi,
Siam Ahmed, Nazifa Tushi, Gazi Rakayet, Mostafa Monwar, Tanzika Amin and
Farrukh Ahmed Rehan, among others.
The
story and screenplay of Andhar have been co-written by Bassbaba Sumon of
Aurthohin, Shakib Chowdhury and Adnan Adib Khan.
With
the release date shifted from October to 26 March, audiences will have to wait
several more months for the anticipated horror film.
