Govt aims to raise CMSME share in GDP to 50%: Commerce Minister

The BNP government aims to raise the share of cottage, micro, small, and medium enterprises (CMSMEs) to 50% of the national economic output from 34%, said Commerce Minister Khandakar Abdul Muktadir on Saturday.

Owing to changing global economic dynamics and energy supply uncertainties, the government is now giving priority to supporting enterprises with small investments and eco-friendly approach rather than energy-intensive industries, the minister added.

He made the remarks while talking to journalists after inaugurating a new exhibition and sales centre at Osmani International Airport in Sylhet. The centre was established by the Bangladesh Small and Cottage Industries Corporation (BSCIC).
