Finance Minister Amir Khosru Mahmud Chowdhury has said the proposed national budget for the FY2026–27 has been formulated with the aspirations and expectations of the nation at its core.

Speaking to journalists in the capital’s Gulshan on Thursday (11 June) morning ahead of presenting the national budget in the Jatiya Sangsad, the finance minister said the budget comes at a time when public expectations are particularly high.

“After a long period, a national budget is being placed under an elected government. As a result, the expectations and aspirations of the nation are much greater,” he said.

Amir Khosru noted that all major budgetary decisions had been taken with a focus on the country’s overall development and improving the quality of life of its people.

He said the budget had been prepared by taking into consideration the needs of all segments of society, including the extremely poor and disadvantaged groups.

“Within our limited resources, this budget seeks to provide relief to people across the country. It has been made with the nation’s aspirations, expectations and vision in mind,” he said.

Every citizen had been included in the budget and that the proposed budget aims to steer the economy from fragility towards greater stability, he added.

Finance Minister Amir Khosru Mahmud Chowdhury is scheduled to present the Tk9.38 lakh crore budget for FY2026–27 in the Jatiya Sangsad at 3:00pm on Thursday.
