The Korea International Cooperation Agency (KOICA), in collaboration with the Bangladesh Bureau of Statistics (BBS), has hosted a dissemination ceremony for the Master Plan of the Integrated Data Warehouse (IDW) under the project “Capacity Development of Statistics Service Based on Platform (2023–2026),” with funding of US$9.65 million.
The initiative marks a key step towards modernising Bangladesh’s national statistical system and strengthening data-driven governance. The master plan outlines a roadmap for establishing a centralised, secure, and interoperable data platform to improve integration, analysis, and dissemination of official statistics across government agencies, according to a press release.
The ceremony was attended by KOICA Bangladesh Country Director Jihoon Kim, the deputy chief of mission of the Embassy of the Republic of Korea, and senior officials from the Statistics and Informatics Division (SID) and the Bangladesh Bureau of Statistics (BBS).
Speakers highlighted the initiative’s role in enhancing data governance, institutional capacity, and evidence-based policymaking. KOICA reiterated its commitment to supporting the development and long-term sustainability of the system, while BBS emphasised its importance for improving the quality and accessibility of official statistics.
The IDW initiative is expected to strengthen public administration and support more effective planning and policy formulation through improved data use and interoperability across institutions.
