IFIC Bank PLC marked its 50th anniversary on Saturday, with its chairman stressing stronger governance, effective management and modern banking services to help the lender respond to rising competition and changing customer expectations.
The Golden Jubilee celebration was held at IFIC Tower in Dhaka under the theme “50 Years of Unwavering Trust”, bringing together board members, senior management and officials, according to a press release.
IFIC Bank Chairman and Independent Director Md Mehmood Husain, the chief guest, said sustaining the bank’s achievements over five decades would require continued efforts to adapt to a changing banking landscape.
He said ongoing reform and modernisation initiatives were progressing in the right direction and expressed confidence that collective efforts by employees would help strengthen the bank’s position.

Managing Director Syed Mansur Mustafa said the bank’s journey had been shaped by long-standing customer relationships and its commitment to serving people across generations. He said it aimed to build on this foundation while adapting to evolving banking needs.
The event was also attended by Md Ebtadul Islam, chairman of the Risk Management Committee and independent director; Kazi Md Mahboob Kasem, chairman of the Audit Committee and independent director; and Md Golam Mostofa, chairman of the Executive Committee and director.
IFIC marked the anniversary on 8 October across its nationwide network of branches and sub-branches through rallies, interactive sessions and other activities involving customers, officials and well-wishers.
Founded on 8 October 1976, the bank now serves more than 2.5 million customers through over 1,400 branches and sub-branches. Government holds a 32.75% stake in the bank, while its deposit portfolio exceeds Tk55,000 crore.
