To share the joy of autumn festivities with underprivileged communities, the Gopalganj district unit of Bashundhara Shuvosangho distributed Sharodiya Durga Puja gifts among destitute Hindu families on Thursday.
New clothes were handed over to temple priests, caregivers,
cleaners, and support staff on the premises of the Gopalganj Sarbajanin Central
Kalibari Durga Temple.
Recipients expressed heartfelt gratitude upon receiving new
attire ahead of Sanatan devotees' largest religious festival. Minati Sarkar
(Minu), a cleaner at the temple who could not afford to purchase festive
clothing this year, shared her joy upon receiving a new sari. "Puja has
arrived, yet I could not afford a new sari. Wearing the sari you gave me, I
will now go to celebrate the puja. I bless you all from the bottom of my
heart," she said.
Sunil Chakraborty, head priest of the central Kalibari, was
presented with a traditional dhoti and panjabi. Offering his prayers for the
initiative, he said, "I pray to God for the Bashundhara Group so that they
continue to have the strength to stand by more marginalised people."
Bashundhara Shuvosangho Gopalganj district unit President Sujan Das said, "Bashundhara Group always stands by the people. Continuing that legacy, its social welfare platform distributed festive gifts to disadvantaged families so they can celebrate Puja with joy. We hope this support continues."
Organising Secretary Ayan Saha commended the move, stating
that such support during Puja helps bridge social inequalities.
Literary Affairs Secretary Simanto Paul added that receiving
gifts during major festivals brings boundless joy to the recipients.
The distribution was attended by Shuvosangho Vice-President Mimi Bala, Joint General Secretary Tipu Biswas, Organising Secretary Animul Islam, Environment Secretary Mandira Saha, Event Secretary Rajib Biswas, and Executive Members Sahitya Paul, Biprajit Das, and Gopal Saha, among others.
