Bashundhara Shuvosangho organised an awareness discussion
and leaflet distribution programme on increased snake activity and safety
precautions at the football field of Islamic University (IU) in Kushtia on
Wednesday.
Among those present were Nazmul Hussain, president of Shuvosangho
Islamic University branch; Khademul Islam, vice president; Arif Billah, general
secretary; Manik Hossain, joint general secretary; Hammad Talukdar, finance
secretary; and Mawazur Rahman, sports secretary.
Also present were Jisan Nazrul, office secretary of the
University Press Club, and Tanim Tanvir, office secretary of the Journalists’
Association.
During the session, Farhana Yasmin, a member of the
university’s Snake Rescue Team, conducted an awareness discussion for students
on snake-related risks. She discussed precautions students should take around
snakes, ways to reduce the likelihood of snake encounters, and what to do in
case of an encounter or bite.
Leaflets containing information about different types of
snakes, the steps to take following a snakebite, and general safety measures
were also distributed among the participating students.
Arif Billah of Shuvosangho said that snake activity has increased on the university campus in recent times. The program was therefore organized by Bashundhara Shuvosangho to raise awareness among students and help them respond appropriately to the situation.
