A discussion meeting aimed at raising social awareness to prevent juvenile crime and gang culture was held at Haji Abul Hossain High School in Tangail. The event was organised by the Tangail District Branch of Bashundhara Shuvosangho.

The meeting focused on the negative impacts of juvenile gangs, social degradation, drug addiction, and ways to keep students away from criminal activities.

The speakers said adolescence is a crucial period in a person’s life. With proper guidance and a positive environment, adolescents can grow into capable and responsible citizens. However, bad company, drugs, and criminal tendencies are causing many teenagers to go astray.

They further said that law enforcement alone cannot provide a lasting solution to juvenile crime and gang culture. Families, educational institutions, local communities, and social organizations must take the pre-emptive initiatives in a coordinated manner. In addition to increasing parental supervision, they emphasized the importance of developing friendly and supportive relationships with children.

The organizers of Bashundhara Shuvosangho urged students to engage in sports, reading, and healthy social, cultural, and creative activities alongside their studies. They encouraged students to stay away from drugs, gang culture, and all forms of criminal activity while cultivating positive thinking and humanitarian values.

Speakers at the programme included Haji Abul Hossain High School Headmaster Md Monowar Hossain, Assistant Teachers Azharul Islam and Jihadul Momen Julhas, Bashundhara Shuvosangho Tangail District Branch President Md Nasir Uddin, General Secretary Meheboob Islam Ruman, and Chhatra Dal Leader Rana Ahmed.

Md Abdur Razzak, former councillor of Ward No 9 of Tangail Municipality, was also present.
