Bashundhara Shuvosangho’s Islamic University unit organised a series of activities for underprivileged and street children, including distribution of educational materials, a drawing competition and sports events.
The programme was held at the university’s
TSCC, where prizes were distributed among the winners of the competitions.
The organisers also distributed school
diaries, notebooks and pens among 20 underprivileged street children.
Arif Billah, a member of Bashundhara Shuvosangho’s
Islamic University unit, said underprivileged street children lag behind in
many aspects of life, with many unable to continue their education due to a
lack of opportunities and resources.
“The initiative was organised to encourage
these children to become more interested in education. We hope the educational
materials will motivate them to continue their studies,” he said, adding that
the organisation plans to undertake larger initiatives for such children in the
future.
Nazmul Hossain, social welfare secretary of
the unit, said the educational materials would encourage the children to
continue their studies.
“Children in remote areas naturally face
greater challenges in education. More initiatives should be taken for them, and
I hope other organisations will also come forward to support them,” he said.
The programme was attended by Bashundhara Shuvosangho
Islamic University unit Social Welfare Secretary Nazmul Hossain, members Arif
Billah, Nafiz Ahmed, Runa Laila, Marzia Akter, Mim Afroz and Insana Khatun, as
well as Come for Road Child President Nazmul Hasan, school director Azizur
Rahman and other members.
