To raise public awareness about ensuring road safety and
preventing noise pollution, Bashundhara Shuvosangho organised a human chain and
awareness campaign in the Shahbagh area of the capital recently.
Young participants in the programme called for greater
public awareness about road safety, compliance with traffic laws, and the
harmful effects of unnecessary horn use. During the human chain, they displayed
placards carrying awareness messages and alerted pedestrians and members of the
public about safe roads and measures to reduce noise pollution.
Speakers said road accidents and noise pollution have become
two of the biggest challenges of urban life. They stressed that there is no
alternative to public awareness in building a safe and liveable city.
The programme was held under the overall guidance and in the
presence of Bashundhara Shuvosangho Dhaka Metropolitan Coordinator Abdul Hannan
Milton and was led by Kadamtali Police Station branch President Md Ainul Rahman
and General Secretary Sohan Ahmed.
Speaking on the occasion, Abdul Hannan Milton said,
"Ensuring road safety is not the government's responsibility alone; it is
a collective responsibility of all of us. By following traffic laws, behaving
responsibly toward pedestrians, and refraining from unnecessary horn use, we
can build a safer and healthier urban environment."
