The Moulvibazar district unit Bashundhara Shuvosangho has shared the joy of Eid-ul-Azha with underprivileged people, reflecting the festival’s core values of sacrifice, compassion and welfare of humanity.
Members of the organisation distributed sacrificial meat among poor, destitute and helpless people at Borhanabad in the Uttar Jagannathpur area under Sadar upazila on 28 May, bringing smiles to their faces.
Organised by Bashundhara Shuvosangho, the programme was held with the support of the social and humanitarian organisation Sheikh Borhan Uddin Islami Society (BIS), Moulvibazar.
Organisers said that, like every year, special initiatives were taken during Eid-ul-Azha for underprivileged people in the community.
They said many families were unable to obtain sacrificial meat due to financial hardship. The arrangement was made to ensure that the joy of Eid reaches their homes as well.
Recipients expressed gratitude for the support and called for such humanitarian efforts to continue.
The programme was presided over by Moulvibazar district unit Shuvosangho President M Muhibur Rahman Muhib. Among others present were BIS Secretary General Nazmul Hossain, and Shuvosangho Executive Council members Mahbub Rahman Yamim and Redwan Ahmad Sami.
Speaking at the event, Muhibur Rahman said, “Eid is not only a festival; it is also an occasion to strengthen the bond of compassion between the affluent and the helpless. If every member of society stands beside the poor according to their ability, inequality can be reduced significantly.
“The true lesson of sacrifice is to serve humanity through selflessness, and this initiative is aimed at putting that spirit into practice.”
Other speakers said that Bashundhara Shuvosangho always strives to stand beside people through humanitarian and social activities.
They said the organisation has been working tirelessly in various public welfare initiatives, including education, healthcare, environmental protection and disaster assistance.
The meat distribution programme held on the occasion of Eid-ul-Azha was also part of that ongoing commitment, they added.
