With the slogan “Say no to drugs, build a healthy and beautiful life,” the Government Titumir College unit Bashundhara Shuvosangho organised an anti-drug awareness campaign on the campus on Tuesday, featuring a poster exhibition and leaflet distribution.
At the beginning of the programme, Shuvosangho members stood in front of the college’s main entrance and displayed anti-drug awareness posters. Later, they distributed leaflets among students across the campus.
Organisers also conducted counselling sessions highlighting the devastating effects of drugs, their social and family impacts, and the importance of keeping young people away from addiction.
Titumir College unit Shuvosangho President Nayan Ali said, “Many talented students in schools, colleges and universities are currently falling into drug addiction. Many begin taking drugs out of curiosity, but eventually it turns into a dangerous addiction.
“As a result, a student’s future, family and society are affected. Therefore, everyone must work together to raise awareness among young people,” he said.
General Secretary Bayezid Hasan Badhan said, “Drugs gradually push a healthy and normal person towards an abnormal life. Its harmful effects are not limited to an individual alone; rather, they affect families, society and the state.
“However, this problem can largely be addressed through social awareness, family supervision and the creation of a positive environment.”
Among those present at the event were Titumir College unit Shuvosangho vice-presidents Zahid Hasan and Purabi Saha Joya, Assistant Office Secretary Rubaiyed Sadi, Finance Secretary Sabbir Sarkar, and members Nazifa, Afroza Amin Mim, Mosharaf Hossain, Farin, and Samiul Islam, along with students from different departments.
