Bashundhara Shuvosangho Manirampur Upazila unit organised an inspirational reading session and literary-cultural gathering on Sunday.
The event took place at the Ranu Kutir premises in the Taherpur area of the municipality to promote creative development and the exchange of knowledge.
The unit’s President, SM Hafizur Rahman, presided over the session, while General Secretary Abdur Rahman Akash moderated the programme. Prof Goutam Roy, an advisor to the Manirampur unit, attended as the keynote speaker.
During the reading session, participants read excerpts from Je Jiban Amar Chhilo, the autobiography of eminent author Imdadul Haq Milan. The book details the author’s literary journey, struggles, and creative path, which sparked deep interest and inspiration among the attendees.
The cultural segment featured songs performed by SM Hafizur Rahman and Goutam Roy. Members, including Konkon Chakrabarty, recited poems to add vibrance to the gathering.
"Today’s youth hold smartphones, but they do not always hold smart thoughts. Reading sessions sharpen those thoughts," said Professor Goutam Roy. He urged everyone to develop a habit of reading for at least 30 minutes daily to benefit the individual, society, and the state. He added that literature serves as "food for the soul" and prevents the loss of deep thinking in the age of technology.
President SM Hafizur Rahman remarked that such initiatives play a vital role in building a humane society and developing values. He stressed that literature and culture are the best tools to keep the current generation away from drugs and negative social trends.
Advisors Master Md Moniruzzaman, Vice-President Dr Habibur Rahman, Joint General Secretary Lecturer Moklechur Rahman, and Kaler Kantho correspondent Prof Mohammad Babul Aktar also participated in the discussion. The event concluded with a collective pledge to spread the light of positive thinking and culture throughout society.
