Eid is a time of joy, love, and the excitement of new clothes. But does every child in society get to experience that happiness? For many street children living near the Jurain Police Box area in the busy capital, Eid celebrations often remain an unfulfilled dream.

To bring smiles to the faces of these underprivileged children, the Shyampur unit of Bashundhara Shuvosangho stepped forward with a compassionate initiative. On Thursday, the organisation arranged a special humanitarian programme where new Eid clothes were distributed among street children, instantly brightening their day.

The children’s faces lit up with joy as they received their new clothes. Some expressed shy smiles, while others showed their excitement openly—small but powerful moments that demonstrated how even simple acts of kindness and care can make a meaningful difference in a child’s life. Their happiness created an emotional atmosphere that touched everyone present.

The initiative was implemented under the guidance and overall supervision of Abdul Hannan Milton, coordinator of Bashundhara Shuvosangho Dhaka metropolitan unit. Inspired by his leadership, the leaders and members of the Shyampur unit worked together to make the programme successful.

The event was led by unit President Md Monir Hossain and Vice-President Md Shahidul Islam Jonny. Other attendees included Vice-President Md Jahangir Alam Palok, General Secretary Md Arman Rahman, Joint General Secretary Md Hamim, Organising Secretary Md Idrisur Rahman Hridoy, Finance Secretary Md Sujon Sheikh, Publicity Secretary Md Anwar Hossain, and other members of the organisation.

According to the organisers, standing beside underprivileged children is not just a responsibility but a humanitarian commitment. They believe that the joy of Eid should be equal for everyone, regardless of wealth or social status, and this belief inspired the initiative.

They also said similar humanitarian activities will continue in the future and called on affluent and socially conscious individuals to come forward to support such efforts.

A small initiative and the sincere efforts of a few individuals were enough to bring genuine smiles to the faces of many innocent children. The organisers hope that such smiles will inspire positive social change and reflect the true spirit of humanity.
