A total of five platoons of Border Guard
Bangladesh (BGB) have been deployed across major industrial belts in Gazipur
under the supervision of five executive magistrates from the Gazipur district
administration to maintain law and order amid ongoing labour unrest.
The paramilitary force will
remain on duty until 7 November to help restore normalcy, avert violence, and
prevent road blockades stemming from garment workers' protests over wage
increases and other demands.
According to district administration and law enforcement officials, the BGB contingents are actively patrolling and stationed at strategic industrial intersections and sensitive points. These include Chandra, Palli Bidyut, Shafipur, Konabari, Mouchak, Nawjor, and the Bhogra Bypass intersection.
The deployed personnel, operating under judicial oversight, have been tasked with keeping national highways free from disruptions, safeguarding industrial units, and averting any untoward incidents across the key manufacturing corridor.
