Bashundhara Shuvosangho has launched a sewing training centre in Faridpur sadar upazila to help women develop skills, become self-reliant and contribute to their families’ financial well-being.
The centre was inaugurated on Saturday afternoon under an initiative of
the Bashundhara Shuvosangho Faridpur district unit. A total of 20 women will
receive free sewing training over three months.
Shuvosangho members said, “The district unit has planned to provide free
sewing training to 100 women across five upazilas of Faridpur in phases. Each
course will last three months, and women who successfully complete the training
will receive sewing machines free of charge to help them start their own work.”
Speakers at the inauguration said women play a vital
role in families and society, adding that improving their living standards
would contribute to the progress of families, society and the country.
“Financial
assistance alone is not enough to make women self-reliant; they also need
opportunities to learn practical skills. Sewing training can help them become
self-employed, work from home or establish small businesses, increasing their
income and easing financial pressure on their families,” they added.
Among those present at the inauguration were Shuvosangho Faridpur district
unit President Tanmoy Roy, General Secretary Sonia Sultana, Treasurer Tihan
Ahmed and other members of the organisation. Trainer Seema Saha also attended
the event.
