Prime Minister’s Education Adviser Mahdi Amin has said the government will stand beside teachers to meet any rational and justified demands raised by them considering capacity and surroundings.
“The benefits of retired teachers, which were
pending due to corruption and looting by the fascist government of the past,
have been cleared as the prime minister has allocated Tk2,000 crore in this
regard within just six months of assuming office. As part of this process, the
government will give highest priority to the interests of the teachers,” Mahdi
said.
The adviser made the remarks at a teachers’ rally
held by the Teacher-Staff Unity Council at the Engineers’ Institution Auditorium
in the capital’s Ramna on Thursday.
BNP acting secretary general and PM’s Adviser Ruhul
Kabir Rizvi was present at the event as chief guest.
Speaking at the event, Mahdi said, “Only 12 teachers
used to receive awards on World Teachers’ Day in the past, which has been
increased to more than a hundred by the current government. The number will be
increased further in the future.”
Leaders of the council and other BNP leaders were
present at the event.
