State Minister for Public Administration Md Abdul Bari on Saturday said honesty, transparency and efficiency of officials are crucial to implementing government services and development projects at the grassroots level and bringing dynamism to administration.
“Only honesty and work efficiency are being
considered as the sole yardstick, without any compromise in posting and promotion
of officials,” he said.
The state minister made the remarks while speaking
as a special guest at a review meeting on solar power, dengue prevention and
development programmes organised by the Local Government Division at the
Multipurpose Hall of the Cooperative Bhaban in Sher-e-Bangla Nagar on Saturday,
said a press release.
He said the present government is following a 100%
economical policy to protect state resources and ensure public welfare.
The field administration officials should perform
their duties sincerely, considering their respective workplaces not merely as
jobs but as their own areas, he said, adding that it is possible to improve the
overall quality of life of common people by properly utilising local resources.

Minister Abdul Moyeen Khan attended the meeting as the chief guest.
The meeting provided guidelines on coordination of

selection of beneficiaries for the government's priority projects, and

The state minister advised that the responsibility
for verifying accurate land information under the Farmer Card programme should
be carried out through block coordinators of the local agriculture department
and that upazila nirbahi officers should coordinate its implementation.
He also directed field administration officials to
take initiatives for technology-based services, including putting civic
services online, bringing municipal areas under CCTV surveillance to control
crime and drugs, conducting cleanliness drives and taking initiatives to
protect the environment.
He urged officials not to retreat from carrying out
government work for fear of any propaganda or lawsuits, but to ensure legal and
reasonable accountability.
The state minister said government offices must
always keep their doors open so that common people can easily communicate their
grievances and problems.
He observed that a safe and developed society could
be built through joint efforts of officials and people under the visionary
