Toufique Imrose Khalidi, Editor-In-Chief and
Publisher of bdnews24.com, passed away at a hospital in London on Friday while
undergoing treatment. He was 59.
Moinul Hoque, a senior journalist at bdnews24.com, said, “Khalidi travelled to London a few days ago to consult a doctor. On Thursday night, he became dizzy and fell in his hotel room. He was then taken to a hospital by ambulance.”
“Doctors informed his family that he died around 7pm Bangladesh time on Friday due to a brain haemorrhage,” Moinul said, adding that the editor’s body is being brought back to Bangladesh.
Khalidi was a well-known figure in
Bangladesh’s journalism and media industry. He had served as the publisher and

Before launching bdnews24.com, he worked for
a Bangladeshi broadsheet newspaper. He later worked for the BBC in the UK as a
presenter, producer and editor.
Khalidi had experience in broadcast, print and digital journalism. He covered a wide range of issues, including business, politics, the economy, development and international affairs.
He also played a significant role in the development of online journalism in Bangladesh. Under his leadership, bdnews began operating under new management and was relaunched as bdnews24.com in 2006.
