BASIS auxiliary committee activities suspended

The government has suspended the activities of the auxiliary committee of the Bangladesh Association of Software and Information Services (BASIS) amid controversy over its formation.

The Ministry of Commerce announced the decision in an office order on Monday.

Earlier, the government formed the BASIS auxiliary committee on 22 September. Following the announcement, the composition of the committee came under criticism on social media.

An application was also submitted to the Ministry of Commerce seeking cancellation of the committee.

Following the application, the government decided to suspend the activities of the committee.
