Train services on the Dhaka–Mymensingh route resumed at 11pm on Sunday, about six hours after a derailed wagon of a ballast train was removed from the railway track in South Gafargaon upazila of Mymensingh.
The ballast
train, used to carry stones for railway maintenance, derailed at Golabari,
between Kaoraid and Moshakhali railway stations, at around 5:15pm.
Following the
incident, trains including the Teesta, Jamuna and commuter services remained
stranded at different stations in Mymensingh and Dhaka.
Officer-in-Charge
of Mymensingh Railway Police Station Akter Hossain said a relief train from
Dhaka arrived at the scene and removed the derailed wagon at around 11pm, after
which train services on the route returned to normal.
