Members of the Bangladesh Ansar and Village Defence Party (VDP) have repaired an important road in Daulatdia union of Goalanda upazila in Rajbari that had become riddled with potholes and damaged sections due to continuous rain and a lack of maintenance for a long time.
The road, located beside the Bangladesh Hatchery
Factory near the Dhaka-Khulna Highway, was repaired on Tuesday to make it
suitable for local residents and vehicles.
Local Ansar and VDP members noticed that prolonged
neglect and continuous rainfall had caused potholes and severe damage at
several points along the road.
As a result, local people were facing difficulties
in their daily commute, while the transportation of agricultural produce and
movement of vehicles had also been disrupted.
Later, the repair initiative was taken following
instructions from Rajbari District Commandant Md Juwel Rana.
The repair work is expected to ease movement for
residents of surrounding areas and facilitate the transportation of
agricultural produce and essential goods. It is also expected to have a
positive impact on the daily commutes of students, traders, farmers and people
from various professions.
Local residents expressed satisfaction with the
initiative of the Ansar and VDP and thanked its members for undertaking the
repair work.
A total of 14 VDP team leaders, along with the
upazila trainer, took part in the road repair work under the leadership of the
Goalanda upazila Ansar and VDP officer.
