Bangladesh pacer Khaled Ahmed will have to wait a little longer for his Kent debut after being left out of the playing XI for their Rothesay County Championship Division Two match against Worcestershire at Canterbury at Wednesday.
Worcestershire won the toss and chose to bowl first. Hasan Mahmud was included in the Kent side while fellow Bangladesh pacer Khaled Ahmed missed out on the playing XI.
Hasan came to England after enjoying a memorable Test series against Australia. The Bangladesh quick picked up nine wickets in the two-match series and played a key role in the historic win at Darwin where he returned career best figures of 6 for 55.
The 33-year-old meanwhile, is still waiting for his first game for Kent. The right arm pacer did not get a chance in either of Bangladesh's two Tests against Australia. His only appearance on the tour came in the warmup match against the Cricket Australia XI where he took one wicket for 51 runs.
Kent are currently pushing for promotion from Division Two and every remaining match is important in their bid to move up.
With several fixtures left in the season, the club brought in Hasan and Khaled to provide extra pace options and strengthen their bowling resources during a crucial stage of the campaign.
The pair have already attracted interest among Kent supporters, particularly after Hasans impressive performances for Bangladesh against Australia.
Club officials will also be hoping their experience at international level can make a positive impact in the closing weeks of the season.
Hasan now has the chance to make his mark for Kent while Khaled continues to wait for his opportunity in county.
