Utmost efforts underway to resolve problems in RMG sector: President

President Mirza Fakhrul Islam Alamgir said on Wednesday that the government is continuing its utmost efforts to resolve the existing problems in Bangladesh’s ready-made garment (RMG) sector.

“The government is working to address the mismanagement and irregularities that have persisted in the country’s garment industry for a long time. Utmost efforts are continuing to resolve the existing problems quickly,” he said.

The president said this when a delegation of the Board of Directors of the Bangladesh Garment Manufacturers and Exporters Association (BGMEA) paid a courtesy call on him at Bangabhaban this afternoon. 

BGMEA President Mahmud Hasan Khan led the delegation.

PM outlines govt plan to overcome energy crisis

During the meeting, the delegation apprised the president of the existing problems in the RMG industry and sought his cooperation in resolving them. 

In response, the president assured them that necessary steps would be taken to address their problems.

The BGMEA invited President Mirza Fakhrul to attend as the chief guest the closing ceremony of the 25th BATEXPO 2026, scheduled to be held on 19 November. The president expressed interest in attending the event.
