A Dhaka court on Monday imposed a travel ban on National Security Intelligence (NSI) Additional Director (Retd) MSK Shaheen and Joint Director (Dismissed) Badrul Ahmed.
Dhaka Metropolitan Senior Special Judge Md Shahjahan
Kabir passed the order following an application filed by the Anti-Corruption
Commission (ACC).
ACC Assistant Director Bilkis Akter sought the
travel ban against the two officials.
According to the application concerning Badrul
Ahmed, an investigation is ongoing against him over allegations of money
laundering. The ACC sought the travel ban, citing information that he was
trying to leave the country and that, if he fled abroad, recovering the money
allegedly laundered through him would become difficult.
Meanwhile, the ACC is investigating allegations of
abuse of power, bribery, extortion and acquisition of assets beyond known
sources of income against MSK Shaheen. The Commission sought a travel ban on
him, stating that Shaheen was also trying to leave the country and that
recovering the money allegedly laundered through him would become difficult if
he fled abroad.
