The Border Guard Bangladesh (BGB) on Thursday foiled an attempt by India’s Border Security Force (BSF) to push six individuals into Bangladeshi territory through the Chapainawabganj border.
BGB’s Naogaon Battalion 16 took the step at border
pillar 216/MP under Ramdaspur BOP in the district’s Gomostapur upazila around
6:30am on Thursday.
According to BGB sources, BSF members from the
Shamshernagar camp under 12 BSF Battalion tried to push six people into
Bangladesh. Being informed, the patrol team from Ramdaspur BOP reached the spot
quickly and identified them.
The six people were found inside the zero point of
the Indian border. BGB members prevented them from entering Bangladesh and
started the process to send them back to India.
Replying to a question, Commander of BGB’s Naogaon
Battalion 16 Ariful Islam Masum said, “Patrolling and surveillance have been
beefed up at the border. BGB remains alert to prevent illegal intrusion and
push-ins.”
