The High Court Division of the Supreme Court has barred members of the Bangladesh Judicial Service from directly or indirectly engaging in commercially operated coaching activities, either in person or through digital platforms.
The circular was issued to uphold the professional discipline, impartiality and dignity of members of the Judicial Service and maintain public confidence in the judiciary.
Supreme Court Registrar General Muhammad Habibur Rahman Siddique issued the circular on Monday with the approval of the Chief Justice.
According to the circular, no member of the Judicial Service can be directly or indirectly involved in any commercially operated coaching activity conducted physically or through digital platforms.
They have also been prohibited from allowing their names, designations, photographs or identities to be used for promotional purposes related to coaching activities for commercial gain.
The circular further said judicial officers cannot disclose, provide or use any confidential, unpublished or official information obtained in the course of performing their judicial duties in coaching activities.
The circular also prohibited them from preparing, editing, publishing or supplying educational materials for commercially operated coaching activities and warned that appropriate action would be taken against any member who violates its provisions.
